Day 8 - DC3 plane wreck, Freshwater Cove and Cape Londonderry

Started day with short walk to a plane wreck. In 1942 the DC3 with pilot and surveyor had to land the plane after failing to refuel in Broome. All survived.

After lunch had a luxurious wallow in some beautiful freshwater ponds at Freshwater Cove for a couple of hours. Was truly relaxing.  We gave come across many green ants which are quite pretty but have a nasty bite.   You can eat the green abdomen and it tastes citrusy apparently.  Cat the skipper uses them in a homemade gin!

Our quiet spot invaded by crew members

That afternoon and evening steamed past Cape Londonderry the most northern point of WA. This is where the Indian Ocean, Timor Sea and the Arufula Sea meet causing the ocean to behave like a washing machine. We were forewarned to take sea sickness prevention tablets but lucked out with Cat our skipper telling us it was the second smoothest crossing she has done! Thank goodness.
